Canopy Bed: A Touch of Elegance Inside Your Bedroom
A bed always serves as the highlight or the most important piece of furniture inside a bedroom. These are built from different materials into varying styles, designs, and colors. Canopy beds are one of the most unique types of beds nowadays. A canopy bed is distinct from its contemporaries because it can serve both as a decorative and functional item in the room.
A canopy bed is somewhat similar to a four post bed because it possesses the same four posts seen on the latter. These posts are situated at each of its corners and this measure approximately four feet high. The spaces in between the posts are typically connected with a decorative or ornate fabric – plus an additional piece of fabric may be used to create a ceiling or canopy on top of the bed frame.
Canopy beds can be classified into two classes, namely modern and traditional beds. Modern or contemporary canopy beds are simple and elegant in appearance. They are either built from wood or metal. However, some of their pieces may be built with a combination of both. In contrast to that, traditional canopy beds possess a more elegant Victorian design, which may either feature metal rod frames or elaborate wooden frames with carvings. Common brands of canopy beds include Spanish Hills, Fantasy Palace and Powell.
Types of Canopy Beds
Antique Canopy Beds – as their name implies, these beds tend to have a traditional appeal. These pieces may either be original or imitation antique beds. Most of them are built with hard wood that are stained with a warm-looking finish. They also have lovely carvings along their frames, foot boards, and head boards.
Square Frame Beds – these feature the same four posts seen on four post beds. But, these come with an additional built-in set of bars that travel across and around their bed frames. These bars give them extra strength and durability.
