The Best Lighting for Your Garage
While some people still use their garage just as a place to store their car, today many people use it for multiple different purposes. Whether you’re planning on putting a workshop in your garage or using it for some other purpose, one thing is certain – you need to install something better than the small, dim lights that are currently in there. Luckily, choosing the right garage lighting is easy because one light will work the best in most of them.
That light is a T8 fluorescent light fixture. Compared to incandescent garage lights, a T8 fixture is more energy efficient and brighter, making it a better option, but all fluorescent lights have this in common, so what sets a T8 light apart from other lights, like the T12 lights that many homeowners have?
Most importantly, T8 lights will work much better in the conditions that are present in most garages. T12 light bulbs start to flicker, hum, and have trouble starting when the temperature gets below about fifty degrees. So unless you’re planning on abandoning your garage in the winter (or live in subtropical latitudes) using a T8 light just makes sense.
But, that’s not the only advantage you get for installing a T8 light. T8 lights put out a much truer color spectrum than T12 lights do, which is incredibly important if you’re planning on doing anything involving painting and staining in your garage. Using the wrong light fixture can ruin your all your hard work when you use an off-color paint! And if this weren’t enough, T8 light are more energy efficient than T12 lights as well, cutting down on your electrical bills each month!
You have numerous different option for installing lights in your garage, but for most people, the best lights are T8 fluorescent lights for a variety of different reasons.
